How to Clean Deep Fat Fryers

Directions for Use:

Electric Fryers: After emptying all oil from the fryer, remove the basket and add water to the low level marked on your fryer. Where possible set at 150ºC and turn on. Do nothing until the water boils. For sensitive or delicate skin, wear rubber gloves. It is best to clean your fat fryer on an old worktop or sink as boiling over can mark stove tops.

When the water is boiling and bubbling place one tablet into the basket never directly into the fryer, and gently lower into the boiling water holding the basket with the tablet submerged for a minute until the tablet is dissolved before allowing the basket to sit at the bottom of your fryer.

Please note: If you have an aluminium fryer and let the tablet touch the bottom of your fryer it can damage it, always place tablet in basket and follow above instructions.

Close the lid on fryers with adjustable thermostat where you can alter the temperature. For fryers with no adjustment leave the lid open. Watch carefully - never leave unobserved. Do not allow water solution to boil over. If this happens immediately turn off the electricity.

For fryers where you have closed the lid, foam may be observed coming from the lid, this is normal, just wipe clean with a damp cloth.

Allow the water to simmer for 20 minutes when your fryer should be free of all stubborn grease. Exercise care to prevent scalding, allow water to cool before emptying the fryer in a suitable drain or sink and wipe lid and other areas where any grease is loose and easy to wipe off with a damp cloth.

It is recommended that you rinse the fryer with clean warm water before using. You will note that your fryer and the basket should be sparkling clean and free of all grease.

Cleaning Pans: To clean individual pans, half fill with water, allow to boil in the pan then simmer and take a tablet, cut in half with a sharp knife before dropping half a tablet into the water.

Note: Water must be boiling or tablet may mark bottom of pan. Do not leave unobserved and never allow water to boil over. If this happens turn off the gas/electricity.

Leave for 15-20 minutes before allowing water to cool and pouring down a suitable sink/drain. Rinse with clean water before use. Even the most burned pan should be clean, occasionally you will have to lift off loose burned grease.

Casserole Dishes/Outside of Pans: Take a large pan and half fill with water, allow to boil. Only when boiling, drop a tablet into the water, simmer ensuring that water does not boil over, never leave unattended. Water must be boiling or tablet may mark bottom of pan.

When the tablet has dissolved place inside the water any smaller pans, casserole dishes etc. Leave for 15-20 minutes and when water cools, take out immersed cookware, rinse and see how clean they are.

Note: Sometimes you have to pick off loosened grease from pan bottoms.

Baking Trays/Oven Racks/Large Objects: You need a large pan or dish, half fill with water and follow instructions above.

If the backing tray/rack is too large, where possible immerse half into the solution and then repeat the exercise on the other half.
