How to select the Correct Cooker Hood Filter
Our Cooker Hood Filter Solutions will fit 99% of all Cooker Hoods.
If you already know what you need CLICK HERE. If not please check the information below to make the right choice.
Cooker hood filters are available in 2 medias, grease and charcoal. Grease Filters prevent a build up of grease in the cookerhood, reducing the risk of fire through fat build up. Charcoal Filters on the other hand, eliminate nasty odours that are present through cooking.
Grease Filters should be changed every six months - or when the indicator stripes on our grease filters change colour to red. Charcoal filters should be changed every 12 months.
To select the correct filter combination please answer the questions below.
1.Does your cooker hood vent directly outside, or does the air recirculate into the kitchen?
The solution for outside venting hoods is our Cooker Hood Filter No.1 set. Click here to view. (Two Grease Filters will be supplied as no charcoal filter is needed). If the air recirulates then question 2 has to be asked.
2. Is the charcoal filter inside the cooker hood a cartridge, or a black charcoal sheet?
The solution for hoods with a black charcoal sheet is our - Cooker Hood Filter No.2 set. Click here to view. (Two Grease Filters and one Charcoal Sheet will be supplied as an odour filter is required.)
3. Solution for hoods with cartridge type charcoal filters.
There is now a large proportion of recirculating Cooker Hoods fitted with a cartridge full of activated charcoal granules. However they can be difficult to source and expensive. We can offer three options for cartridge filter hoods.
a) We do supply a generic range of circular and rectangular Cartridge Filters. Your manufacturer or model number may or may not be shown. Please ensure that the measurements and the visual check match your old filter.
b) Our Cooker Hood Filter No.3 set is our most popular solution for cartridge filters. Click here to view. This pack of filters contain 2 Grease Filters and a cut to size sheet of 'pockets' filled with activated charcoal granules which will eliminate the need for a replacement cartridge - just leave the old one in place.
c) Another alternative is remove the old cartridge and renew the Activated Charcoal inside. For Activated Charcoal click here. Some units are sealed and this may not be possible.
4. Does your cooker hood have metal 'mesh' type grease filters?
The metal mesh type of grease filter can be cleaned using HG Grease Away so only requires replacing when damaged.
