Briwax Shellac Sanding Sealer 500ml

Briwax Shellac Sanding Sealer is a traditional style sealer. Formulated using the natural, harvested shellac. It forms an ideal base for any of our wax polishes, or for the other shellac based polishes, such as French Polish or Button Polish. Shellac Sanding Sealer uses alcohol to dissolve the shellac, and as a result dries very quickly. When combined with our Briwax Original Polish it enables a grain enhancing complete finish to be applied to shelves, architraves, banisters, skirting, softwood dado rails or a piece of unfinished timber furniture in just one afternoon.

Type: A traditional sealer formulated from natural harvested shellac derived from sustainable resources.
Special Features: Contains additives which facilitate sanding once dry.
Intended Use Suitable for sealing all types of wood prior to waxing or French polishing.
Coverage: 8 – 10m² per litre

Briwax Shellac Sanding Sealer Usage Instructions

Preparation: Wood should be clean, dry and smooth. Sand in direction of grain to produce a smoothsurface. If grain is open, fill with Rustins Grain Filler. Furniture that is to be renovated should be cleaned with white spirit and fine wire wool to ensure that it is free from grease and wax. Wood staining should be carried out before applying Briwax Shellac Sanding Sealer.
Application :Apply liberally with a soft brush or cloth pad and allow to dry. Rub down lightly with flour paper or Briwax 0000 Wire Wool before applying a second coat. When used as a finish, polish with a soft cloth or yellow duster.
Coats: As a finish, apply as many coats as required to build a sufficient layer of shellac. For sealing wood prior to waxing, apply 2 liberal coats.
Drying Time: 20 – 30 minutes
Re-coating Time: 30 minutes
Application Temp: Ideally 15 - 25ºC
Maintenance: Wipe with damp cloth. Greasy or dirty surfaces should be cleaned with a mild non-abrasive liquid detergent. Avoid using harsh cleaning agents. Wax polishes may be used.
Compatibility: Wood may be dyed with Rustins Wood Dyes and/or filled with Rustins Grain Filler prior to sealing with Briwax Shellac Sanding Sealer
Settlement: Shake well before use.
Clean-Up: All equipment must be cleaned whilst wet with methylated spirit.
