Rustins Quick Dry Outdoor Wood Stain Dark Oak Usage Instructions

Preparation: Surfaces must be clean, dry and free of wax, grease and contaminants, smooth and sound. Fill large cracks, open joints and damaged areas with a high quality flexible filler. Wash oily woods, knots or resinous areas with white spirit. Remove mould, lichens, algae and moss with brush, scraper and domestic bleach, then rinse thoroughly and allow to dry. Rustins Wood Dye may be applied to bare wood prior to varnishing.
Application: Using a synthetic brush, apply liberally with a full brush finishing with the grain. The first coat may be diluted with water on hot days (up to 15%). Do not apply to hot surfaces or in strong sunlight if possible or if rain is likely.
Coats: Apply 3 coats and lightly sand after 1st coat if there is raising of the grain..Drying Time: Touch dry 30 minutes. (On hot days may be touch dry within 10 minutes).Re-coating Time: 4 hours minimum, depending on temperature & humidity.
Application Temp: Ideally 15-25°C. Do not apply below 10°C, or in high humidity or if rain expected.
Maintenance: Re-coat every 2 to 3 years. Clean with a mild detergent solution and lightly sand to provide key.
Compatibility: May be applied over old existing coating if these are in good condition and rubbed down to provide a key. Coatings not in good condition should be removed with Rustins Strypit Paint and Varnish Stripper. If applying over wood preservatives test on a small area to ensure the varnish dries and adheres well.
Settlement: STIR WELL BEFORE USE. May dry glossy if not adequately stirred.
Clean-Up: With water whilst still wet. If dried-on, clean equipment and brushes with Rustins Brush Restorer.
