Rustins Shellac Sanding Sealer Usage Instructions

Preparation:Wood should be clean and smooth. If grain is open, fill with Rustin’s Grain filler. Furniture that is to be renovated should be cleaned with white spirit and fine wire wool to ensure that it is free from grease and wax.
Application: Apply liberally with a soft brush or pad and allow to dry. Rub down lightly with glass paper before applying a second coat When used as a finish rub with 00 or 000 steel wool and wax polish finishing with a soft cloth or yellow duster.
Coats: As a finish, apply as many coats as required to build a sufficient layer of shellac. For sealing wood before waxing, apply 2 liberal coats.
Drying Time: 1-2 hours, depending on temperature and humidity
Re-coating Time: 2 hours, depending on temperature and humidity.
Application Temp: Use in a warm, dry atmosphere, ideally 15- 25 ºC
Maintenance: Wipe with damp cloth. Greasy or dirty surfaces should be cleaned with a mild non abrasive liquid detergent. Avoid using harsh cleaning agents. Wax polishes may be used.
Compatibility: Wood may be dyed with Rustin’s Wood Dye prior to sealing with Rustin’s Sanding Sealer. The Sanding Sealer may then be waxed.
Settlement: Shake thoroughly before use
Clean-Up All equipment must be cleaned whilst wet with Methylated Spirits.

Shelf-life/Storage: A very long time if stored in a sealed container in a cool, dry place.
Hazards: Highly Flammable. Harmful by inhalation, in contact with skin and if swallowed. Keep out of reach of children. Keep container tightly closed. Keep away from sources of ignition No smoking. Do not breathe vapour. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. In case of accident or if you feel unwell, seek medical advice immediately, (show the label where possible).
