The protector dries out the wet and sticky tar so that it will loosen and fall down to the bottom of the flue pipe. it can then be easily cleaned out of the stove, and this reduces the risk of chimney fires.

To limit the build-up of tar, creosote and soot in the chimney, burn one sachet on the fire or stove each time it is lit for the first seven lightings.
After that, burn one sachet every four lightings. if the fire burns continuously use one sachet every 4 days.
